Shops caught in police drink trap

Four East Lothian off sales shops, whose employees sold booze to an under-age boy enlisted by the police, have been allowed to keep their licences.

Lothian Borders & Angus Co-operative Society Ltd, Gullane, Lowcost Supermarket and Pinkie Foodstore both Musselburgh, and Mini Market, Tranent, were the first to come before East Lothian Licensing Board for a licence review at the request of the police under new legislation following a 'test purchase' operation.

The board agreed not to take action after a lengthy hearing last week at which each case was dealt with separately.
