School campus takes shape

Progress work on the new Haddington Infants/St.Mary's school campus, Haddington.

Progress work on the new Haddington Infants/St.Mary's school campus, Haddington.

A new £9 million joint campus for pupils at St Mary’s RC Primary and Haddington Infant Schools is on schedule for opening in October.

St Mary’s was demolished to make way for the new educational development at Tynebank Road which will see a non-denominational school and Roman Catholic school share a site.

The option of a joint campus was the popular choice following an option appraisal and consultations involving teachers, parents and the local community. Morrison Construction was appointed the main contractor for the project.

Councillor Peter MacKenzie, East Lothian Council’s education convener said: “The work is well under way and on schedule.”
