'Save Leuchie' campaign grows

The fight to save Leuchie multiple sclerosis holiday home near North Berwick from closure at the beginning of December has entered a new chapter.

Campaigners from all four threatened respite centres gathered near Birmingham to consider their tactics for the annual general meeting of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in September.

A motion of no confidence in the trustees has been tabled for discussion at the meeting and they are being asked to suspend the respite care review.

Consulted

Campaigners also announced that the Save Leuchie petition now has 6,800 signatures and there are 1,404 posts on Facebook.

This combined total, they added, was more than five times the number of people consulted by the MS Society in its respite care survey.
