Resurfacing works this weekend

A £65,000 investment by Transport Scotland to resurface the A1 Dolphingstone eastbound on slip road will benefit motorists by providing a smoother and safer surface.

To enable the works to be undertaken safely the slip road will be closed on Friday March 15 at 9pm and will be re-opened on Sunday March 17 by 6am. Lane closures will also be in place on the eastbound A1 and on the A199 Musselburgh to Tranent Road during these times.

To allow additional works to be undertaken on the A199 Musselburgh to Tranent Road at the same time the Dolphingstone westbound off slip road will also be closed.

Signed diversions will be in place for the duration of the works. Motorists wishing to use Dolphingstone eastbound on slip road will be diverted west along the A1 to the Wallyford Junction where they will be directed to return east on the A1 and resume their normal journey.

Motorists wishing to use the Dolphingstone westbound off slip road will also be diverted west along the A1 to the Wallyord Junction where they will be directed to return east on the A1 to the Dolphingstone eastbound off slip road, where they can resume their normal journey.

Commenting on the works Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s Operating Company Representative in the South East, said: “These works are being carried out over the weekend to minimise delays to motorists, we would however encourage motorists to plan ahead and allow additional time for their journeys.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org.

The works are being carried out by Aggregate Industries on behalf of BEAR Scotland. Works have been planned in consultation with East Lothian Council and Lothian and Borders Police.
