Rangers tribute to Musselburgh fan
Tributes have been paid to a Musselburgh man who died after being taken ill while watching football at Ibrox stadium last weekend.
Rangers-mad Robert Learmonth was supporting his team in their 4-2 defeat over Berwick Rangers when he collapsed in the stands on Saturday afternoon.
He was rushed to Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital just after 3.30pm and died a short time later.
His family say they have taken comfort from the fact that he died in a place he loved, among those who shared his passion for football.
A founder member of Prestonpans Rangers Supporters Club, Mr Learmonth (57) was born and brought up in Port Seton but had been living near Musselburgh Fire Station, in the town’s Newbigging, for the past few years.
The tragedy came as a cruel blow to his family, who were still mourning the death of his elderly father Nicol, only four days earlier.
Robert’s sister Moira Campbell (53), said: “We take great comfort from the fact he died in a place he loved, surrounded by people who loved the game the way he did.
