Police appeal after man attacked in Haddington
Lothian and Borders Police investigating a serious assault in East Lothian at the end of January have made an appeal for information to the local public.
A 45-year-old man was walking in Whittinghame Drive, Haddington at around 7.30pm on Thursday 31st when he was attacked and suffered a serious facial injury.
Officers have been conducting local enquiries in the area for the past month to identify potential witnesses who can assist with their investigation.
They now believe a number of people who had just finished training at the nearby Haddington Colts Football Club may have been in the area at the time of the assault and these individuals are asked to come forward.
Police are also keen to trace a male who was seen running from Whittinghame Drive into the Nungate area.
He is described as white, around 20-years-old, 6ft tall with a stocky build. He was wearing dark cotton trousers, a grey hooded top and a distinctive dark body warmer with ‘USA 10’ written on the back.
Detective Constable Callum Richardson said: “Since the attack in January, our investigation has been centred on tracing anyone of interest to our enquiries.
“We would now like to speak to the people who had just finished training at the football club, as they may remember seeing something suspicious.
“Similarly, we are eager to trace the man in the body warmer who may have information that can assist with our investigation.
“All of these individuals are asked to contact police immediately.”
Those with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 101, or the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
