Path closed in East Lothian due to heavy rain

Due to the heavy rain over the past few days, a section of the River Tyne path between Haddington and East Linton has had to be closed.

Temporary fencing and closure signage has been erected to alert walkers. It was because of the saturated ground that part of the river bank has collapsed into the river, making the path unsafe. It is still possible to walk the 1.5 mile stretch from East Linton to Hailes Mill and the 2.5 miles from Haddington to Sandy’s Mill. But the path is completely closed between Hailes Mill and Sandy’s Mill.

Updates on the length of time the path will be closed will be communicated as soon as possible, once the damage has been fully assessed.
