Pals pool their swimming skills for Haiti

A stroke of genius has seen young swimmers in Musselburgh raise hundreds of pounds to help earthquake victims in Haiti.

Pinkie St Peter's pupils Finlay Gray, Jamie Hudson, Brodie Mackay and James Henry, above, held their own sponsored swim at Musselburgh Sports Centre in aid of the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal.

The four eight-year-olds, who are all relative beginners in the pool, set themselves the challenge of swimming 15 lengths each.

Proud

They were delighted to raise more than 440 in sponsorship and almost doubled their swimming target by achieving a combined total of 110 lengths.

"Their mums and families and Pinkie St Peter's are all proud as punch," said Finlay's mother Lisa.

A website has been set up for those wishing to support the boys' effort. To make a donation visit www.justgiving.com/swimming-relayforHaiti
