Pair sentenced for killing of Ormiston man

The “cold and callous” killers of Ormiston man John Auld have been jailed for a total of 11 years.

Michael Sutherland, of Inchview Road, Wallyford, and Steven Archibald, of Edenhall Crescent, Musselburgh, were sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh last week.

Mr Auld (59), a Royal Scots veteran, was attacked by the pair and later died after going to the aid of the owner of the Kopas Takeaway in Tranent on March 4 last year.

Archibald (37) and Sutherland (31) were originally charged with murder, but the Crown accepted their guilty pleas to the charge of culpable homicide.
