Nurse praised for her role in crash rescue
A brave nurse has been praised by police and health chiefs after she went to the rescue of victims in a horror crash near Dunbar.
Joanne Lee (34), from Leith, scrambled down a 30-feet embankment to administer first aid to injured motorists, minutes after the serious accident near Torness Nuclear Power Station.
The staff nurse then stayed with the driver and passenger until the ambulance arrived and they were rushed to hospital.
Now Joanne has been singled out for her "courage" and praised by Lothian and Borders Police and NHS Lothian.
Recognised
Reluctant hero Joanne said her job in the Acute Receiving Unit at the Western General Hospital helped her deal with the frightening scene which faced her.
She added: "I am used to dealing with emergency situations so I was able to stay calm.
"It's nice to be recognised but anyone else would have done the same in that situation. I was just doing my job."
