North Berwick community’s hospital pledge

Community councillors in North Berwick have pledged to work to ensure changes at the Edington Hospital meet the needs of local residents.

Along with other local groups, there are in talks with NHS Lothian and East Lothian Council’s adult social care department about future of the facility.

Speaking at the community council’s monthly meeting, chairman Sheila Sinclair said: “As a community council we are determined to ensure that any changes that become necessary in the provision of health or care services meet the needs of North Berwick residents.”

She explained that discussions were taking place about the physical constraints of the building next to the health centre in St Baldred’s Road.
