No crossing plans for road improvements at Wallyford

Wallyford residents are angry that planned improvements to the village’s main road will not include a new crossing.

Re-surfacing work on Salters Road, originally planned for January, will now take place in March. But despite local calls for a new controlled crossing, a speed table will be placed on the busy road as part of the works.

Wallyford Community Council has been campaigning for another crossing at the ‘school end’ of the road with the only current controlled crossing situated by the shops in the centre of the village.

Councillor Stuart Currie said: “The community council and myself put forward to the council that a second crossing needs to be put in place near the school. But they have now come back and said they can’t do that.”
