New £4m health complex takes major step forward

A plan for a £4 million new doctors' surgery and day centre for the elderly in Gullane took a step near reality this week.

The joint East Lothian Council and NHS Lothian development is to receive 1.025 million in the first 13 million tranche of hub initiative projects from the Scottish Futures Trust, a limited company wholly owned by Scottish Ministers.

Proposed services include a GP practice, community nursing, podiatry (care of feet) and council day services on the site of the tennis courts in Hamilton Road.

Timescales

Gerry Power, General Manager, East Lothian Community Health Partnership, NHS Lothian, said: "This is an exciting project for the local community and in conjunction with council colleagues, we have identified a proposed site at Hamilton Road.

"Further details, including timescales will be developed in the coming months."
