New police chief at helm
Chief Superintendent for Lothians and Borders.
Chief Superintendent Jeanette McDiarmid has been appointed the local police commander for the Lothians and Scottish Borders in the new single police service – Police Scotland – as from April 1.
In her new role she will take charge of an area stretching from Harthill to the Scottish Borders and including four local authority areas. Where she will be based has not yet been confirmed.
Chief Supt McDiarmid (pictured), who most recently has been the Lothian and Borders Police Divisional Commander for West Lothian, has been appointed by Police Scotland Chief Constable Stephen House following consultation with West Lothian, East Lothian, Midlothian and Scottish Borders Councils. She said: “I feel privileged to have been given this opportunity to play a key part in the new era of policing in Scotland.
