New Musselburgh group seeks to calm waters

Boat owners in Musselburgh are fed up of being given a wide berth by East Lothian Council.

In a bid to ensure better dialogue with the council on issues such as harbour maintenance and improvements, they have joined forces in forming the Fisherrow Berth Holders’ Association.

Harbour users have voiced concern in the past about the lack of communication by the council about repairs to storm damage.

A spokesman told the News: “This new group consists of the majority of boat owners berthing their boats in Fisherrow Harbour, none of whom are affiliated to any other organisation using the harbour.

“Its sole raison d’etre is to ensure that it has representation, commensurate with its membership, at any future East Lothian Council meetings where harbour issues are discussed.”
