Musselburgh remembers famous son
Members of the Old Musselburgh Club are joined by family members in marking the anniversary of the birth of local physician and poet David Macbeth Moir.
Tribute was paid to one of Musselburgh’s most famous sons during a short ceremony on Sunday.
Members of the Old Musselburgh Club were joined by descendents of physician and writer David Macbeth Moir as they laid a wreath at his memorial stone at the Mall.
Born in Musselburgh on January 5, 1798, he studied medicine at Edinburgh University, before setting up a partnership in his home town, where he practised until his death in July, 1851.
