Musselburgh remembers famous son

Tribute was paid to one of Musselburgh’s most famous sons during a short ceremony on Sunday.

Members of the Old Musselburgh Club were joined by descendents of physician and writer David Macbeth Moir as they laid a wreath at his memorial stone at the Mall.

Born in Musselburgh on January 5, 1798, he studied medicine at Edinburgh University, before setting up a partnership in his home town, where he practised until his death in July, 1851.
