Musselburgh ‘mugged’ in council budget.

A leading SNP councillor has accused East Lothian Council of “mugging” Musselburgh in its budget.

Councillor Stuart Currie made the comment during a heated political debate over the local authority’s three year spending plans in the Council Chamber, Haddington, on Tuesday.

The nationalists hit out at a proposal to slash funding for the Brunton Theatre Trust by £50,000 and not to include £1 million earmarked to regenerate the town centre.

The move to stop free school meals for all P1 to P3 pupils in Wallyford, Whitecraig and Pinkie St Peters, Musselburgh, was also slammed.
