Families in the Musselburgh area are being encouraged to stay close to home this Hogmanay as the town prepares for its own end-of-year extravaganza.
An afternoon of activities - culminating in a free lantern parade and a spectacular fireworks display - is being held as part of Scotland’s Winter Festivals and the first celebration of its kind for the Honest Toun.
The fun gets underway at 1pm at the Brunton, where a programme of craft and musical activities will run until 5pm. Highlights include drop-in drumming sessions, face-painting and an illuminated lantern-making workshop for those intending to join the parade.
Free tickets can be booked in advance to avoid disappointment and food will be available throughout the afternoon.
