MP opens Musselburgh school courtyard
Fiona O'Donnell MP (second from right) visits new courtyard at Musselburgh Grammar School.
Talented pupils at Musselburgh Grammar School have created artwork to decorate their newly-refurbished courtyard, opened recently by East Lothian MP Fiona O’Donnell.
Musselburgh artist Laura Young and the school’s art department have been working with S1 and S2 pupils at the school to create a series of murals to decorate the walls of the courtyard, which will be used by the two year groups at lunchtime.
The school’s parent council has secured £3,500 lottery funding to buy materials for the artwork, as well as tables and chairs, planters and plants to create a new area for the youngest children in the school.
The area, which was hardly used before the refurbishment, will also be used as an outdoor learning space by the whole school.
Parent council chairman Louise Kirkpatrick thanked everyone for their help on the project, particularly Laura Young, who gave up her time free of charge to create the murals.
