Meeting pledge for flood-hit Musselburgh residents
Flood-hit residents in Musselburgh have been promised a meeting early this year to address problems which have blighted their lives for more than two decades.
Officials at East Lothian Council want to find out what is causing the sporadic flooding of homes and gardens on the Pinkie and Windsor Park estates.
Representatives of the Coal Authority and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) will be asked to attend the meeting, along with tenants and residents groups, local councillors, community councillors and other interested parties.
Householders in the area suspect abandoned mineworkings could be the source of the problem, which leaves them with water beneath their floorboards at times of heavy rainfall.
Windsor Park resident Alan Hay, who has been calling for action for a number of years, welcomed the decision to bring everyone together.
