Meet the Giants of the Forest at Dirleton
Giants in the Forest ( www.giantsintheforest.com ) are making their way to East Lothian and local residents are asked to help out. Giants in the forest is an interactive arts project, part of the Year of Natural Scotland, which aims to encourage people to get outdoors and experience Scotland’s countryside first hand.
The Giants in the Forest will be bringing cultural creativity to the woodland at Yellowcraig throughout 2013, starting with a launch event on Friday, March 22.
Councillor Norman Hampshire, East Lothian Council’s environment spokesperson, explained: “In the morning local schools and community groups will be decorating and erecting two giant woodland heads. In the afternoon from 2.30pm we are looking for members of the public to come down and help decorate a third head. These giant heads made out of natural materials will enhance the local environment and add another unique attraction for visitors to Yellowcraig.”
Following the launch, a series of arts events are planned ending with an end of season ‘Dark Wood’ event on October 16 and 17.
If anyone is interested in taking part go along to the main car park at Yellowcraig at 2.30pm.
