Massive support for bowling facilities

Results of a survey carried out by Ormiston Community Council have revealed that a staggering 98.94 per cent of villagers are in favour of retaining local bowling facilities.

Of the 903 survey forms delivered to households in Ormiston, 661 were returned (73.2 per cent).

Of those returned, 654 (98.94 per cent) were in support of the continuation of bowling provisions in Ormiston, while only six (0.91 per cent) were against.

The survey was scrutinised by David Torrance, Minister at Ormiston Parish Church, and Session Clerk Jeremy Nichol.

Investigate

Only one paper was spoiled.

Chairman of Ormiston Community Council, Jim Blane, said that a sub-committee set-up to investigate public opinion on future bowling provision was "not only impressed by the almost unanimous result, but by the number of local residents who took the time and effort to respond, thus underlining the importance of the issue."
