A cancer check has been made in the Dunbar area in advance of the commissioning of Torness nuclear power station later this year. The preliminary health study has been welcomed by East Lothian MP Mr John Home Robertson. “The Government has been going to great lengths to conceal information about the nuclear industry,” he said. “I welcome the fact that this local authority is involved in efforts to have a baseline study of people’s health. If there are any significant changes in public health in the neighbourhood in the coming years - once Torness is in operation - then at least we will know the extent.”
