Little Nirvanas!

Dunbar, Voted one of the best places to live.

Dunbar, Voted one of the best places to live.

Dunbar has been named one of the most desirable locations in Scotland – just a year after it was branded “Dunfor” in a national magazine.

The town joins North Berwick amongst the 10 best places to live in Scotland in a new guide published by the Sunday Times which lists “the little Nirvanas” dotted across the UK.

In April 2012, outrage was sparked when Dunbar was renamed “Dunfor” in an edition of The Economist – the only East Lothian location on a map illustrating an article examining how independence might affect the nation’s economic prospects.

But now Dunbar and North Berwick join the likes of Linlithgow and Giffnock in the Sunday Times’ two-part ‘Best Places to Live’ guide.

It took a wide range of factors into account including transport links, quality of schools, natural beauty, crime rate, property prices, cultural life and unemployment figures.
