It’s a real midden for North Berwick pupils
SONY DSC
Youngsters from Law Primary School took the opportunity to get their hands dirty during an archaeology project at North Berwick Law.
The pupils’ help was enlisted by the East Lothian Council Archaeology team and the Countryside Rangers as they explored a partially eroded midden – or domestic dump – dating back to the Bronze and Iron ages.
The P5s were tasked with sifting through buckets of spoil to uncover clues to how their distant relatives once lived.
Each collection of finds uncovered during sieving was then carefully bagged and catalogued for further analysis later.
