Inveresk snowdrops in bloom

Lady Ann Fraser and her Snowdrops

Lady Ann Fraser and her Snowdrops

Musselburgh’s most prominent Galanthophile will open her garden gates to the public later this month.

An enthusiast collector of snowdrops, Lady Ann Fraser hopes her beautiful displays will help to lift spirits as winter gives way to spring.

Her garden at Shepherd House, Inveresk, is one of only four locations in Edinburgh and Lothians selected for this year’s Snowdrop Festival, taking place at venues across Scotland.

Along with Kevock Garden in Lasswade, Hopetoun House in South Queensferry and the Royal Botanic Garden on Inverleith Row, the garden near Musselburgh is considered one of the best spots to see an array of spring snowdrops.

The walled artist’s garden and snowdrop theatre at Shepherd House will be open on February 23 and 24 from 11am to 4pm.
