Insulation scheme receives funding boost

An extra bonus to a free home insulation offer has been announced by East Lothian Council and Energy Saving Scotland.

The scheme already provides free non-means tested loft insulation including ‘top-up’ insulation and cavity wall insulation to householders in the Scottish Borders. Insulating a loft can save £175 per year in energy bills while cavity wall insulation can save around £135.

Now householders can also benefit from free under floor insulation which can save an additional £60 a year. It’s ideal for properties with cellars, under-floor cavities and suspended timber floors.

Alastair Ranyard of East Lothian Council, said: “With gas and electricity prices rising yet again, I really do urge and encourage local homeowners and private tenants to consider this offer. Usually, when something looks too good to be true, there’s a catch – but this time, there really isn’t.”
