Ian Donald gives up his business duties to concentrate on Rotary Club

Ian Donald, who represents the local business community on North Berwick Community Council, is giving up to concentrate on his Rotary duties.

He informed community councillors of his decision at their January meeting.

Mr Donald, who owned the newsagents Sweet News in the High Street, continued to attend community council meetings on behalf of the business association even after he retired.

He said he could no longer "juggle" commitments as he was the new president of North Berwick Rotary Club.

Questions now hang over how the link will be maintained between the community council and town's business sector.
