Gullane stroke survivor’s inspirational story

A Gullane man has written a book about his road to recovery as an inspiration to others after suffering a severe stroke.

Robert Dalrymple was 51 when he had a brainstem haemorrhage. He was a self-employed business consultant after taking early retirement from a career in banking.

Promoting the recent International Day of Disabled People he said: “I was at work when I became unwell.

“At the time I was working in the office of a care agency so I was with two nurses who recognised I was having a stroke.

“I was taken to hospital quickly. I remember very little apart from the paramedics and blue flashing lights of the ambulance.

“I remained in hospital for a long time. It was quite a major stroke so it was a long road to recovery.”
