Getting ‘ruff’ with East Lothian’s misbehaving dog owners

Greg McGown, community warden for the North Berwick coastal area, was on a mission last Friday to call foul at the playing field next to Gullane Primary School.

He was out and about despite the chilly conditions to try and catch dog walkers who don’t pick up after their pooch following complaints about the mess in parts of the village over the past few weeks.

I joined him with our photographer Gordon Fraser after his early morning stint at the local beach and its car park where dog dirt is also a proving to be a problem.

When we arrived Greg was busy chatting to a dog walker at the playing field which is bounded by the Millennium woods, a children’s play park and skate park.
