A GULLANE optician has appealed to clients and others to focus on Africa by donating their old glasses.

Geoffrey Ballantine, part owner of opticians Ballantine Goldie, is a trustee of the Board of Vision Air Overseas – a charity whose mission is to transform access to eye care in the developing world.

He makes regular trips to Africa to help set up practices and facilities in remote areas.

Mr Ballantine and the rest of the team from Vision Aid Overseas recently travelled 14 hours by jeep to Kasama in Northern Zambia to establish a vision centre in the provincial hospital.
