Funds are available for memorial restoration

War memorials could be cleaned and restored in readiness for the anniversary of the First World War through a new fund being made available to communities in Scotland.

The additional £1 million for the Centenary Memorials Restoration Fund will pay for the upgrade and maintenance of memorials that pay tribute to those who gave their lives during conflict.

Enquiries about grants should be sent to Historic Scotland Investment Team at Longmore House, Salisbury Place, Edinburgh, EH9 ASH, phone 0131 668 8801 or e-mail hs.grants@scotland.gsi.gov.uk
