A New Year windfall of nearly £90,000 will fund arts and archaeology projects at the Peter Potter Gallery, Haddington, in 2013.

The cash-aid has come from Creative Scotland, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.

The ‘Monument Project’ is a year-long programme which will consist of exhibitions, workshops, events, a parallel archaeology project and a focus on engaging with the local community.

Colin McLean, Head of HLF Scotland, said: “This is a fantastic project which will allow people to try their hand at something new and unusual. HLF is committed to helping communities learn about and take pride in their local heritage. In this case, learning about history has never been such fun.”
