A vision for Winterfield Park in Dunbar has been unveiled to link in with the John Muir Coast to Coast Trail which is due to open in 2014.
Sue Anderson of the Friends of Winterfield Park said the new route, connecting the birthplace of the conservationist John Muir in Dunbar with Helensburgh on the Firth of Clyde, would run along the northern boundary of the site.
“I think it is really exciting that this new coast to coast trail is going to be opened up, comparable in stature to the West Highland Way and with lots of potential for bringing income into the area. It is a real opportunity for Dunbar and to give people another reason to visit our town liked they used to,” she told Dunbar Community Council at its monthly meeting.
She added: “I feel we have an opportunity to make it a destination town again. John Muir was a man of vision and I would like to think Dunbar was a town of vision too.”
