Football course at Prestonpans helps develop work skills
Football Works students and coaches in Prestonpans.
A shared passion for football has been helping unemployed young people in East Lothian to kick-start their careers.
A football-themed training course held recently at the Pennypit Centre in Prestonpans has helped a number of local students to obtain qualifications.
Football Works was delivered by Edinburgh College and Street Soccer Scotland - a social enterprise which uses football to inspire adults and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds - in partnership with several other organisations.
The free course allows participants to complete coaching courses and SQA units, combined with work skills and personal development.
Students at the Pennypit learned training skills with Street Soccer Scotland coaches, gained essential communication skills in the classroom and achieved an SQA qualification in Communications and Working With Others.
