Fire destroys Musselburgh house

Emergency services were called to Musselburgh on Friday, December 21, as fire ripped through a two-storey house in Denholm Road.

More than 50 firefighters using breathing apparatus and high pressure hose reels battled for almost eight hours to bring the blaze under control.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public just before 4.30pm after flames were seen coming from the roof of the property, which was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Fire crews were forced to withdraw from the house and tackle the blaze externally, after part of the roof collapsed.
