Farmers invite you to a supper with a difference at Longniddry
Anna and William Thomson, Wheatrig Farm, Longniddry who are setting up a supper club
You don’t have to be a Michelin star chef to work out who wears the apron in the Thomson household in Longniddry.
Local foodie Anna Thomson will be relying on the culinary skills of her husband - farmer and former rugby player William - when she launches East Lothian’s first supper club next month.
Starting in London a couple of years ago, supper clubs have gradually migrated north, recently taking Edinburgh by storm.
Determined not allow East Lothian to be sidelined, the Thomsons have decided to open up their farmhouse dining room to offer “foodie strangers” a local dining experience, using their own produce and the county’s extensive larder.
Anna told the News: “Supper clubs are essentially a delightful half way house between dining out at a cosy city restaurant and visiting friends for supper.
“Ordinary people with a passion for cooking are opening up their homes and welcoming foodie strangers to come along for a slightly different, and often far cheaper, evening experience.
“Diners pay a pre-agreed donation, bring along their own wine, submit any foodie dislikes in advance to avoid embarrassment and then go with the flow.”
The East Lothian Farmhouse Supper Club will meet for the the first of its monthly soirees at Wheatrig Farm on Friday, February 22.
