Electrical cause for station fire

It is thought that the cause of the blaze which destroyed North Berwick Fire Station was electrical.

A spokesman for Lothian & Borders Fire and Rescue Service said a joint investigation with fire investigators from the insurance company had been carried out. She added: “Whilst enquiries are still on-going it’s thought the most likely cause was electrical.”

The local part-time crew are working from a temporary base on Heugh Road. It is expected this base will be needed for a number of months as plans for repairing and restoring the damage to the fire station are developed.
