Pupils at St Martin’s RC Primary School, Tranent, are among those leading the way in demanding equal opportunities for children around the world.
East Lothian MP Fiona O’Donnell has praised schools across the county for being the best in the UK at supporting a nationwide campaign to promote access to education for youngsters in developing nations.
The East Lothian parliamentary constituency topped the list for the number of schools signed up to Education for All’s Send my Friend to School campaign,
The campaign has brought together hundreds of thousands of students and teachers in the UK who want world leaders to keep their promise and make sure that every child can go to school, no matter where they live.
The Send my Friend to School campaign focused on a “Go for Gold” theme this year to tie in with the Olympics. Local schools sent hundreds of medals to Ms O’Donnell to show their support for the campaign and she has also visited a number of them to hear about what they have been doing.
