East Lothian’s third annual One World Night, held recently at Longniddry Parish Church, has been hailed as a resounding success by county MP Fiona O’Donnell.

One World Night was established to raise awareness about global development issues and this year adopted the theme of food and water security.

Christian Aid Scotland’s Development Officer, Mary Mulligan, talked about food insecurity in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Rhona Armitage, the chairman of Dundee’s Foodbank, gave a presentation on its work supporting people living in food poverty in the city. The food theme was chosen in part because of the establishment of a foodbank in East Lothian, which Ms O’Donnell is promoting.
