East Lothian knitters asked to assist play

The clickety click of knitting needles will be music to the ears of production staff at the Brunton Theatre as they prepare for a new intergenerational play, set in Dunbar

Senior members of Brunton Youth Theatre hope knitters across East Lothian will get involved by creating rectangles, which will be stitched together and used on the set of Lana’s Nana, being staged in Musselburgh next month.

A new play by Colin Bell, Lana’s Nana follows a young teenage girl as she embarks on an interplanetary journey to recapture her Nana’s fading memories.

The play is based on the lives of people in Dunbar and was created from workshops run by playwright Colin Bell at Dunbar Day Centre.

The piece has been accepted as part of Luminate: Scotland’s creative ageing festival, celebrating and profiling our creative lives as we age.
