Supporting Fairtrade goods in a bid to stop unfair treatment and poverty in developing countries has earned Dunbar the title of ‘Fairtrade Town.’
The achievement comes at the same time that East Lothian retained its status as a ‘Fairtrade County’ in recognition of the work done throughout the area by groups and individuals.
Dunbar residents are being invited to a celebration to mark its new Fairtrade status in the Town House on Saturday, October 27, from 2pm to 4pm.
Dunbar Fairtrade Partnership has been busy over the past year and a half raising awareness of Fairtrade issues in the community by using Fairtrade goods.
The initiative has been backed by schools, faith and community groups, shops and traders.
