Dunbar funfair venue rethink after ‘disco’ complaint

Bleachingfield, Dunbar

Bleachingfield, Dunbar

councillors are to visit the Bleachingfield at Dunbar in the wake of a complaint about it being used as a venue for funfairs.

An objector highlighted noise problems, claiming it was “like living in a disco.”

East Lothian Council and the taxpayer had to cover the cost of repairs to the “scarred field” after a visit by the shows. Use of the area by heavy machinery was causing poor drainage and flooding, it was also claimed.

The protestor highlighted the sites proximity to housing and alleged that high levels of “red” diesel exhaust fumes contained particulates which, according to a report, were “cancer causing.”

Concern about loud engines running during the set up of the funfair, noisy maintenance, loud repetitive music and DJ type shouting was raised.
