Culture Minister presents arts awards at Prestonpans ceremony

Culture Minister Linda Fabiani visited the Prestoungrange Gothenburg on Wednesday night to announce the winners of this year's Burriss Bursary Awards.

Now in its fifth year, the awards scheme is funded by the Prestoungrange Arts Festival and provides grants for up to three artists, based in the Prestonpans area, to carry out a creative project connected to the heritage of the town.

Fantastic

Local artists Kelly Ross and Coreen Scott will each receive 2,000 to help bring the town's murals alive through music and drama projects, while Carol Melrose will use her 2,000-award to develop a folk club at the Goth.

The minister said she was delighted to be visiting Prestonpans to present the awards.

"The Burriss Bursary is a fantastic example of what local communities can do to encourage and promote local artists," she continued.
