Chernobyl children visit North Berwick
A group of youngsters from Belarus, which was affected by the Chernobyl nuclear explosion in 1986, enjoyed a visit to North Berwick.
The nine girls and four boys, pictured above and right, were escorted by local Rotarians throughout the day.
They heard about the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and took part in a simulated launch of the town's inshore lifeboat.
This was followed by a tour of the Scottish Seabird Centre where they had lunch.
The children visited the Lodge Grounds, viewing the aviary and having fun in the play park.
They sailed round the Bass Rock and Fidra on the boat Sula II.
Their trip was organised by the Chernobyl Children's Life Line charity which was founded in 1991.
Belarus received more than 70 per cent of the radioactive fall-out from Chernobyl and, as a result, thousands are born every year or go on to develop thyroid cancer, bone cancer and leukaemia.
North Berwick Rotarians thank everyone who made the day a success.
