Chernobyl children enjoy visit

A group of 11 children from Chernobyl in the Ukraine, where the worst nuclear power plant accident in history took place in 1986, enjoyed a visit to North Berwick recently.

Their day was organised by the local Rotary Club and included a tour of the lifeboat station.

They got the chance to sit in the Blue Peter lifeboat and view equipment.

The youngsters went to the Scottish Seabird Centre for lunch and operated the remote control cameras on the islands in the Forth. They watched a film about puffins in the cinema at the centre and travelled round the Bass Rock on the Seabird Seafari boat. They spent time on the beach before returning to Edinburgh by minibus.
