Changes to catering at Musselburgh’s Brunton hall leave a sour taste

CATERING arrangements at Musselburgh’s newly-refurbished Brunton Hall appear not to be everyone’s cup of tea.

Local groups and voluntary organisations hiring the venue for fundraisers and other events are angry that they have been banished from the kitchens – in favour of an out-of-town catering company.

East Lothian Council’s chief executive Angela Leitch has now agreed to look into the matter, along with general concerns about the new pricing structure and increased hire charges for the halls.

Discounts for charities and voluntary groups hiring the revamped facilities are already being reinstated by the council following the public outcry over its decision to reduce the discount for non-commercial bookings from 50 per cent to 20 per cent.
