THE cause of subsidence in Prestonpans Cemetery last week remains uncertain.

A four-foot area of ground collapsed last Friday in a road in the old section of the cemetery.

This will restrict public access to some extent until repairs can be carried out and an investigation into the cause of the subsidence can be completed.

East Lothian Council told the News that the Coal Authority have now taken on responsibilty for the subsidence.

A spokesman for the Coal Authority, however, was not so certain.
