Cash boost is music to ears of Tranent band

Tranent and District Pipe Band receive a cheque for �1,000 from the Celtic Lodge of Edinburgh and Leith.

Tranent and District Pipe Band recently received a donation of £1,000 from the Celtic Lodge of Edinburgh and Leith.

The cash will help to fund new uniforms and instruments, as well as tuition for the latest intake of young pipers and drummers.

New players of all ages and experience are welcome and Pipe Major Kenny Campbell is keen to hear from youngsters learning piping or drumming at local schools who want to developing their skills.

The band is currently in practising new tunes for the 2013 season of gala and competition events and will be leading the Remembrance Day parade through Tranent on Sunday.
