Call to back East Lothian coastal parking charges

Councillors will be asked to approve the introduction of parking charges at 13 coastal car parks in East Lothian at a meeting next week.

The controversial plan, which has attracted two online protest petitions, will be debated at a full meeting of East Lothian Council in the Council Chambers, Town House, Haddington, at 10am on Tuesday.

It is proposed that charges are imposed at: Longniddry Bents No 1; Longniddry Bents No 2; Longniddry Bents No 3; Gullane Bents; Yellowcraig; John Muir Country Park - Linkfield; John Muir Country Park - Shore Road; John Muir Country Park - Tyninghame Links; Whitesands; Barns Ness; Aberlady Bay local nature reserve; Skateraw; and Thorntonloch.

It would cost: £2 daily; £40 for an annual season ticket, covering all coastal car parks; free for Blue Badge holders.
